MAKING GOD LAUGH Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 2, 7 & 8

This holiday season, comedy is relative.

Bellevue Society for the Arts presents the Holiday comedy, MAKING GOD LAUGH, Fridays and Saturday, Nov. 30, Dec. 1, and 7 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in The Hirt Theater at 205 Maple Street, Bellevue.

MAKING GOD LAUGH takes place in four scenes, each 10 years apart, set at various holidays. Starting in 1980, the newly-launched kids — a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former star football player — all return home, where we learn of their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives. The empty nest parents contend with their own changes too, as old family rituals and dubious recipes are trotted out and ancient tensions flare up.

Over the course of 30 years’ worth of celebrations — Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Easter — we see how, despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations.

As Woody Allen once said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”

The cast includes Teri Sizemore (Norwalk) as Ruthie, Rob Albach (Sandusky) as Bill, Cory Lachner (Tiffin) as Richard, Leslie Childers (Bellevue) as Maddie, and Ray Sizemore (Norwalk) as Thomas.

Written by Sean Grennan, MAKING GOD LAUGH is co-directed by Aaron Stewart and Nancy Steyer, Tiffin. It is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

MAKING GOD LAUGH contains mild adult language and subject matter.

Tickets are $15 for adults 18+, $10 for adults 60+, and $5 for children/students through grade 12. Call 419-484-2787 for reservations beginning Nov. 16.
