img_0685Bellevue Society for the Arts’ Children’s Theatre announces auditions for SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR., Wednesday, June 21 and Monday, June 26 from 6–8:30 p.m., at 205 Maple Street, Bellevue. Callbacks, if needed, will be Wednesday, June 28 from 6–8:30 p.m.

Bellevue Society for the Arts’ Children’s Theatre is open to all children ages 7–12 in any school system (must be 7 years-of-age by June 19, 2017, and no older than 12 years-of-age by August 13, 2017).

Based on the ever-popular, award-winning 1970s cartoons, this fast-paced musical teaches lessons with clever, catchy tunes.

The Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon is now the basis for one of the most fun musicals ever to hit the stage!

This energetic, revue-like musical follows Tom, a young schoolteacher, who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. Memorable songs as “Just a Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Conjunction Junction” bring his lesson plans vividly to life.

Available roles include:
Dina — Dina is Tom’s mature side. She is thoughtful and grounded. Dina takes the lead on “Interjections.” Dina should be a good, strong singer with an ability to sing harmony. Vocal range top: E5; vocal range bottom: A3

Dori — Dori takes the lead on “A Noun is a Person, Place or Thing,” and “The Preamble.” She needs to be a strong singer who can lead the entire ensemble. She is the silly, goofy side of Tom. Vocal range top: C5; vocal range bottom: G4

George — George is a marvelous character role. George takes the lead on “Three is a Magic Number,” and “Just a Bill.” George should be a good singer and a great character actor. He’s the romantic, caring and in-control part of Tom. Vocal range top: D5; vocal range bottom: Bb3

Joe — Joe is the cool side of Tom. He’s laid back and fun-loving. Must deliver the great, “Conjunction Junction” with the right growl. Vocal range top: F5; vocal range bottom: Bb3

Shulie — Shulie is the ingenue. She is Tom’s sweet, genuine side. Shulie takes the lead on “Unpack Your Adjectives,” and “Interplanet Janet.” Shulie should be a strong singer and a likable character actor. Vocal range top: G5; vocal range bottom: G4

Tom — Tom is the idealistic young teacher, the hero of our story. Tom should be an amiable, likable, charming performer. He doesn’t sing much solo stuff. Vocal range top: D5; vocal range bottom: Bb3

Boy Choir — Ensemble. Vocal range top: D5; vocal range bottom: Bb3

Girl Choir — Ensemble. Vocal range top: G5; vocal range bottom: A3
